Achievements and Goals
Over the past 10 years the Batanta Project team has made some amazing discoveries. An incredible 157 species of caddisfly (Trichoptera) have been identified, all of which are new to science. In addition, 7 new species of dragonfly (Odonata), 6 new species of mayfly (Ephemeroptera), 1 new species of land snail (Gastropoda), 1 new species of beetle (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) and 1 new species of liverwort (Cololejeunea) have also been discovered.
The team have consistently published their findings in scientific journals in their home country.
